Hello everyone! Happy Saturday!

At the time of posting this, it has been 9 months since the publishing of this website!

So today, I’m letting you in on something big:

I’m launching a second website!

Introducing…

The Mystery & Media Maestro

It’ll launch on July 14. This will have…

  • Reviews of mystery media — not just books, but also movies, TV shows, games, and even podcasts
  • Reviews and reflections on musicals, especially those that tell powerful stories (or dabble in mystery themes!)
  • Serialized mystery fiction — more on that in a second
  • And some deeper media essays for those of us who love a good narrative twist or character study

It’ll be fun, dramatic, clue-filled, and yes — deeply geeky in the best way.

SERIALIZED MYSTERY FICTION

I was planning to serialize my full-length mystery novel The D.C. Double Dilemma online this summer. But after some reflection (and several pages of notes), I’ve decided to take a different route.

Instead of serializing that book — which I’ll continue polishing for future release — I’m introducing something else entirely…

🕵️‍♂️ Get ready for the October Johnson prequel series

Launching Tuesday, July 15, with new chapters of the first volume releasing every Tuesday and Friday until December 2nd, the day of my 10th author anniversary.

This will be a brand-new mystery serial starring October Johnson solo, set before the events of The D.C. Double Dilemma

The first two chapters drops the day after the new site goes live — so mark your calendars for July 14 & 15!

🎬 What about the 2020s Sequel Curse?

Glad you asked.

That post is still coming — it’s just been moved to Tuesday, June 10 so I could give this announcement the spotlight today.

The 2020s Sequel Curse is a cross-site blog series where I’ll be unpacking why some mystery and speculative fiction sequels from this decade (Another Simple Favor, Glass Onion, the Multiversal Saga, etc.) haven’t lived up to their predecessors… and when they have. (Spider-Verse, I’m looking at you.)

The mystery media-focused posts will be exclusive to subscribers on my author site, but I’ll always have a bonus review or reflection post for general readers too.

If you’re not subscribed to my blog yet — now’s the perfect time. You won’t want to miss what’s coming in June and July.

And if you have favorite mystery books, movies, shows, or musicals you want me to cover — or questions about the new serial — drop a comment below!

Stay tuned!

I hope the Sequel Curse doesn’t extend itself to your second blog! Best of luck with it all. That’s a lot to tackle. I know myself too well – I do well just to have categories on my ONE blog filled. Oh, wait… checks categories… yeah, let’s not mention that. 🙂
