Act 2 of 2025 Roundup

I like to think of my 2025 writing journey in a three-act structure: Act 1 covered the first three months, when I finally answered the call to post again on March 29th, and Act 2 spanned April through September.

Since I haven’t posted a roundup post since the beginning of July, I thought it would be fun to recap my Act 2 journey in reading, writing, and posting. Let’s dive in!

April

Writing: Posted 8 poems for NaPowrimo and kicked off the A-to-Z Poetic Soundtrack for Can You Spell Werewolf?. Drafted the next 11-ish chapters of Draft One for the novel.
Reading: Focused mostly on drafting, so reading took a backseat this month.

As April closed, I was deep in drafting, laying the groundwork for the rest of the year.

May

Writing: Completed drafting the remaining 15 chapters of Can You Spell Werewolf?.
Reading: Began rereading Beastly immediately after finishing the draft.

May was all about finishing Draft One and starting the reading journey for inspiration.

June (my best reading month!)

Reading: Finished rereading Beastly, completed Christine, The Candleberry Chronicles: The Burning Candle, and 100 Days of Sunlight. Also started and finished Bree Boyd is a Legend by Leah Johnson and The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
Writing: Took a short break from drafting to mentally prepare for July, focus on summer school, and drive my online presence back up.

June reminded me that reading fuels creativity in ways drafting alone cannot.

July

Writing & Posting: Began rewriting and posting chapters of The D.C. Double Dilemma. Posted the next poem in the A-to-Z Poetic Soundtrack Series.
Expansion: Launched my second website, The Mystery & Media Maestro, expanding my online presence.

July was about experimentation — posting, rewriting, and exploring new ways to connect with readers.

August

Writing: Finally began Draft 2 of Can You Spell Werewolf?, starting with the first chapter. Continued posting chapters of The D.C. Double Dilemma. Posted another poem in the soundtrack series.
Milestones: Reached 25 subscribers on my first author website and 100 followers on Wattpad — huge moments for Act 2!

August was a month of forward momentum — first steps toward Draft 2 and major growth milestones.

September

Writing: Suspended writing and posting The D.C. Double Dilemma across all platforms. Drafted 27 chapters of Can You Spell Werewolf?. Posted two non-soundtrack poems and hosted a writing prompt for the first time.
Milestones: Hit 100 posts on my first author website — what a way to close Act 2!

September was all about focus: drafting, reflection, and celebrating my creative journey so far.

Highlights & Lessons from Act 2

Act 2 has been a time of growth, reflection, and creative momentum. I experimented with serialized writing, multi-platform engagement, and tracking milestones while balancing reading, drafting, and editing. Some key takeaways:

  • Posting consistently across platforms builds community engagement.
  • Tracking creative milestones keeps momentum even during busy months.
  • Pausing projects strategically (like suspending The D.C. Double Dilemma and my defunct Brave New Series/2020s Sequel Curse series) allows focus on high-priority work like Draft 2 of Can You Spell Werewolf?.

Goals & Vision for Act 3 (October–December 2025)

  • Writing: Continue drafting and editing Can You Spell Werewolf? to finish the draft by the end of November. Finish the A-Z Poetic Soundtrack series in November as well. On October 8, 2025, my 20th birthday, I’m launching my own MilWordy Challenge — more details in that special post!
  • Reading & Reviewing: Set aside time to finish and start new books, with plans to share reviews across both websites, plus movie and TV show reviews.
  • Community: Grow subscriber lists, post more interactive content, and engage readers in writing challenges and prompts.
  • Audio: Starting October 6, audioblog episodes of old and new posts of both websites will be released!

Act 2 was about building momentum — Act 3 is about setting the stage for the climax of 2025, including my 10th author anniversary.

Thank you so much for sharing this ride with me! I’d love to hear your own Act 2 highlights — what were your biggest moments from April through September?
