Hello, everyone!

This year, I’ve decided to do something big.

Starting November 1, 2025, I’ll be taking on the Milwordy Challenge—a year-long personal writing challenge where I aim to write 1,000,000 words between November 1, 2025 and October 31, 2026.

This is more than just a number. For me, Milwordy represents consistency, growth, and building the kind of creative discipline that I need to be sucessful in this stage of my life.

Why I’m Doing Milwordy

Two years ago, in 2023, I attempted a Quarter Milwordy—250,000 words—and made it to 167,000. At the time, I wasn’t posting regularly, I didn’t have multiple platforms or projects in active drafting, and I wasn’t tracking my words as closely.

To say that still applies to me today would be far from the truth.

This challenge isn’t about perfection or having ALL of the million words being polished and publishable.

It’s about showing up, creating daily, and documenting the process as I grow as both a writer and storyteller.

November’s Main Projects

To kick off Milwordy strong, I’m focusing on two core projects this November:

🐺 Can You Spell Werewolf? — Draft 2

This is my YA fantasy novel, and my target deadline for finishing the second draft is November 30, 2025. This story has been a passion project for years, and completing this draft will be a huge creative milestone.

A Speller’s Genesis — Serialized Novel Launch

I’m also starting work on my new serialized novel, A Speller’s Genesis, a prequel of sorts to Can You Spell Werewolf?. This story will be released online in arcs BEFORE Can You Spell Werewolf? comes out, and November marks the beginning of drafting the opening chapters and getting the serialization pipeline ready.

What Counts Toward My Million Words

One of the best parts of Milwordy is its flexibility. Here’s what I’m counting toward my total:

  • Drafting fiction (novels, serials, short stories)
  • Rewriting and redrafting (yes, second drafts count!)
  • Blog posts and author updates like this one
  • Outlining, if written in prose form (not bullet-only notes)
  • School and college assignments
  • Wattpad and other platform posts
  • Marketing and creative content tied to my projects

Basically, if it’s written by me and contributes to my creative journey—it counts.

The Journey Ahead

One million words sounds daunting, and it is. But it’s also thrilling. I’ll be posting regular updates, sharing milestones, and tracking my progress publicly to stay accountable (and to hopefully inspire a few of you to chase your own creative goals).

This isn’t just a challenge for me—it’s the beginning of a creative year that will shape everything that comes next.

Here’s to 1,000,000 words. Let’s do this.

What are your writing goals for November?
