Week 11!

The second-to-last Milwordy week of the first quarter of this challenge and A BIG TURNING POINT in terms of words and my writing project, Can You Spell Werewolf?

As you can see from the stats, I had my first 5k day ever, 4k day of this challenge and this year, and my first 3k day of the month and this year ALL in one week.

This is because I did my first official virtual writing retreat on SMU campus from the 16th to 18th, the dates where I had the highest word counts ever.

This eclipsed last week as the most work I’ve done on Can You Spell Werewolf?.

And at the time of writing this, I have THIRTEEN CHAPTERS left of Draft 2 of Can You Spell Werewolf?.

The plan for this week was to get Draft 2 done by Jan 19, which changed to Jan 23rd, but I’m more or less on track to get this done on the 28th or 30th.

THIS WEEK

I’m not going to lie, in this final week of January and the first three months of this challenge, in terms of my creative direction I’m going to be keeping 2 things in mind:

  1. Mostly likely, I will finish Draft 2 this month, but I need to kick production of A Speller’s Genesis into high gear. This is because the week of 26th, I’m planning for chapters to go on an accelerated release because January 26th marks FIVE years since I posted my first poem on Wattpad. But I’m also planning to post 2 audio-chapters a week on Mondays and Thursdays. But I do want to record and edit as much of all of the first seven chapters as possible ahead of time.
  2. How much I end up writing this month in total is going to determine whether or not a million words will still be my goal to write by next Halloween or not. If I hit below or only the 83,334 minimum goal, I’m going to be changing my minimum target to 500,000, with 750K as my stretch goal an 1 million as my insane stretch goal. If I write at least 100,000 words this month, I’ll still have 1,000,000 words as my target.

But anyway, that’s all from me.

How is January going for you? If you’re working on any writing projects, how are they going?
