“If January is the month of change, February is the month of lasting change. January is for dreamers… February is for doers.”
— Marc Parent
Happy New Month! Welcome to the first blog post of Feburary.
In this blog post, I’m going to give you my recap for Week 12, reflect on January, and give you my vision on Feburary.
Let’s get into it!
WEEK 12 STATS
Total Word Count: 14,383
Average Word Count: 1,438

The biggest win of Week 12
I finally finished Draft 2 of Can You Spell Werewolf on January 31st, bringing an end to a six-month journey of ups and downs.
Can You Spell Werewolf? is now better structured and mostly more fleshed-out, and the characters are better developed. I also improved the worldbuilding significantly.
There is obviously a lot more work to be done, and the story could be a lot more cohesive in more than one area, but the important thing is Draft 2 is the last time that I am going this deep in creating new material for Can You Spell Werewolf? for a new draft.
JANUARY RECAP
44,255 words written
31 out of 31 days written
37 days without a zero day as of January 31
96,866 total words written across the first three months of Milwordy
When January began, I set high expectations of writing 200,000 words to make me catch up to having 250k words for this first quarter.
But even though I didn’t crack 50,000 words, let alone 4 times, I still hit high word counts–my first 5k day of the challenge, my first 4k day, and TWO 3K days!
So I’m pretty much satsified with what I accomplished.
FEBURARY GOALS
Here’s what I want to do creatively for Feburary:
- Rest from Draft 2 of Can You Spell Werewolf? for a week, then take another week to do a Draft 2.5 & beta reader preparation before I deliver the draft in the 2nd half of Feburary.
- Draft most (if all) of A Speller’s Genesis, while continuing to release chapters twice a week.
- Read and finish 6 non-serialized books and 6 serialized books (I didn’t finish reading any in January).
This is going to a great month and a great beginning for Milwordy Quarter Two (there will be more information about that later this week).
Stay tuned!
