Goodbye, February, Hello, March!

Happy March! It’s now the start of a new month, and it’s been a minute since I’ve written anything new on this website! This is now (Half) Milwordy Month Number #5, my favorite number, so that should give me extra luck with this month, right? All jokes aside, let’s get into it. FEBURARY RECAP STATS:…

Happy March!

It’s now the start of a new month, and it’s been a minute since I’ve written anything new on this website!

This is now (Half) Milwordy Month Number #5, my favorite number, so that should give me extra luck with this month, right?

All jokes aside, let’s get into it.

FEBURARY RECAP

STATS:

Total Words Written: 8,597

Feburary Word Count Average: 307

Total Words For the Challenge Overall: 105,463

Words Left:

Minimum Goal of 500k: 394,537

Stretch Goal of 1M: 894,316

February was my lowest word count month. In addition to being the month that I posted the least on social media, on this website, and especially for A Speller’s Genesis.

On paper, it’s a step backward.

But if I’m being completely honest, A) it’s not entirely true, and B) it’s not entirely a bad thing.

I am proud of two things this month writing-wise:

  1. Prepared a quick Draft 2.5 of Can You Spell Werewolf?and sent the manuscript for feedback to four readers.
  2. Even though Feburary was the lowest word count month, it had a smaller zero-day count at 4 zero-days compared to December’s 9 zero-days.

In a way, the lower word count and online content visibility almost feels like a reward for how hard I worked on Can You Spell Werewolf? in January.

MARCH VISION

March marks the middle of the second quarter of this challenge, but also the end of the first quarter of 2026, so I definitely want to set a loosely concrete plan for what this month should look like:

  1. Just like January, I’m going to set three levels of word count goals:
  • Minimum Goal: 30,000
  • Stretch Goal: 50,000
  • Insane Stretch Goal: 70,000

I’m trying to follow the “under-promise and over-deliver” principle with these word count goals.

  • I’m also going to have a minimum target range of A Speller’s Genesis of chapters I want to post this month: 17 to 20. And I will do my best to write ahead of those 17 to 20 to restore my backlog.

2. I’m also going to apply the 3-tier system to my reading goal for the month. If you remember from my 2026 goals post, I set a goal that I’m going to finish reading 36 non-serialized books and 36 complete online serialized books by the end of the year. And so far, I have completed 0 of either category, but I’m very close to finishing:

  • The Widow by John Grisham
  • Coldwire by Chloe Gong

And the newly-released short-story collection and recent book in her Tessa & Weston series…

  • Snapshots of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons

But with no further ado: here are my reading goal tiers:

Minimum: 2 non-serialized books and 2 serialized books or 4 books

Stretch: 3 non-serialized books and 3 serialized books or 6 books

Insane Stretch Goal: 4 non-serialized books and 4 serialized books or 8 books

I’m adding the “or X books” part to each tier to remove the personal requirement that it has to be that combination of the first half of the tier.

3) Until April, I’m not setting a specific content posting goal (besides A Speller’s Genesis chapters and their chapter posting announcement), but I will prepping for April’s direction of content during this month as well.

WRAP-UP

All in all, I am excited for March to be a return to form!

But enough about me! Comment below and tell me how your Feburary was and/or what you hope March looks like for you.

Stay tuned for the next post!
