Hello, everyone! Post 100 has finally arrived!

In television, hitting 100 episodes often means a show enters syndication — it’s a milestone that signals a newstage, a wider reach, and the start of something bigger.

It’s no different for this blog—a library of stories, reflections, and creativity, now ready to be shared, celebrated, and explored in new ways.

Reflecting on Post #99

Post #99 was my first-ever writing prompt. Inspired by Wattpad Shortys 2025 and the #Rapture2025 trend, I invited readers to try one of two options:

Option 1: Write a poem, short story, or anything incorporating the lyric:

“I’ve got peace and I’ve got love, but I’m up thinkin’ I might lose it all.”

Option 2: Write something that includes all of these words: love, peace, lose, rapture

The goal was simple: try something creative, share it with the community, and connect through writing. And to my delight, someone actually responded!

MY RESPONSE

But before I get to that response, I’m going to give you mine:

The Contract I Signed

Can’t help but feel my faith is resigned
And I was too young to read the fine print
Of the contract I signed

Ten years ago I heard Christ gave his life for mine
So quickly I responded to repent
But now my faith is resigned

I’m free from sin, yet I feel confined,
Is this what they said it all meant,
This contract I signed?

So my life should be surrendered, God-designed?
Every step stamped with his thumbprint
Or else my faith looks resigned?

Can’t help but think of leaving this behind
To tear this crucial blueprint
Of the contract others designed

But then a phone call makes me rewind
My journey to and through
This road less traveled by
And even though my decision makes me sigh
It hits me like a baseball from the sky

My relationship with Christ---a connection
Not a contract I signed, a connection
Because that is God’s design---
Love and peace for all
In the rapture, nary left behind

In the Cards

September 26, 2025

The week had been exhausting.  Morgan was dragging by Thursday night.  She had spent the day taking care of Poppy’s needs.  She had told me that she wouldn’t be available most of the day Thursday due to having to tolerate an hour long drive to the doctor’s office to check Poppy’s heart.  Poppy had been dealt some tough cards.  He had so many problems with keeping it in beat.  One time we thought we would lose him, that he would never come back like my friend Bret that went to visit God.  Morgan had told us Poppy was at the hospital getting better. I hope he never goes there again.

I was so happy to hear the roar of the truck that broke the peace and quiet of our country life yesterday that I accidentally put a scratch on Poppy with my nails when I jumped into his arms to express my love and give him a welcome home kiss. The smells on their clothes and skin hit my nose like a rag full of cleaning solution.  I didn’t say anything.  Didn’t want to hurt their feelings.  Things took a turn for the better when Morgan made grilled cheese sandwiches for Poppy as an afternoon snack.  I’ve always been partial to a half a hotdog in the afternoon while Rocko, well… Rocko is the exact opposite of Mikey in the Life commercial.  He’ll eat anything.

Morgan was discussing their stop at John’s house over sandwiches.  Poppy and John had been friends for much longer than I have been around, way back in the olden days- 1985.  They stopped to pick up some of the extra music equipment that the band didn’t need anymore, some speakers, lights, stands, and mixer board.  I think it had something to do with those big round things in the music room that Poppy gets mad at and bangs with sticks as if the rapture is coming.

Poppy was telling me he wasn’t feeling very good.  He didn’t actually say it but I could tell by the way he was moving so I sat on his lap for a while.  That always makes him smile.  He grabbed ahold of me and held me tight while Morgan explained what the Doctor said. I didn’t understand a word of it.

After dinner, we all curled up in bed to watch the moving pictures on the wall.  Poppy fell asleep while Morgan stared at the ceiling.  I heard her say as I drifted off to sleep “I’ve got peace and I’ve got love, but I’m up think’n I might lose it all.”

Reflections & Lessons Learned

Hitting 100 posts is more than just a number. It’s a reflection of:

  • Growth as a writer and storyteller
  • Building a community that interacts and participates
  • Experimenting with formats, from blog posts to audio versions (syndicating content in new ways!)
  • Connecting with readers in meaningful ways

The first reader response to a prompt marks the beginning of a more interactive phase — one where your creativity and mine can meet.

Thank You & Call to Action

This milestone wouldn’t exist without you — subscribers, readers, and fellow creators who comment, share, or simply read along. Thank you for helping me reach this point.

What’s next?

  • Keep participating in prompts — there’s always room for more voices in future posts.
  • Share your work in the comments, on social media, or via email.
  • Check out the new audio versions of posts (starting this week!) for a new way to experience this content.
  • More poems, including those in my ongoing A-to-Z Poetic Soundtrack Series!

Here’s to the next 100 posts — may they be full of creativity, connection, and community!
