Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the blog!
If you’re reading this, I hope you had a fantastic May like I did!
Let me give you the quick highlights of May, what progress I made on my goals/intentions for May, and announce my direction for this next month, June!
The month that will conclude both this second quarter and the first half of this year!
Let’s get into it!
DID I ACCOMPLISH WHAT I SAID I WOULD DO IN MAY?
Did I…
Read more of the books I was planning to read? No, but t I did read 3 comic books (shown below) I actually walked from SMU down to the nearest comic bookstore to go get on Free Comic Book Day.

But I also listened to Beastly, but I didn’t finish. I’m 84% done, though.

And on the last day of the month, I read this book by Matthew Holmes:

Check out more bloggers? Yes, as part of the A-Z challenge virtual road trip that I signed up for.
My favorite post, although it wasn’t a A-Z post, was one that I viewed on May 29, Holly Jahangiri’s post, Scala Decima, which is about a new poetry form that she invented!
Finish the remaining 12 chapters or almost 25k of Can You Spell Werewolf? YES!
Not only did I finish at around 71k, THE LONGEST FIRST DRAFT I HAVE EVER WRITTEN, but also I finished 11 days earlier than my original May 31st deadline, but 3 days earlier than new May 23rd deadline!
What I mean by this is that I was going to have the deadline be May 31st, the day of my brother’s graduation party, but family was planning to start arriving the 24th, so I figured I needed to have my rough draft done before then!
Start planning out Car Gone Rogue? I did not have time to start planning out Car Gone Rogue again. I do not intend to this for this rest of quarter and possibly for the next quarter for reasons I will get to when I get to the June section of this post.
Post more frequently? Yeah, I definitely didn’t post a little bit more frequently. This is all that I posted in May:
The End of A Four-Ish Month Journey
Compare this with my much more prolific posting in April:
Ablaze: NaPoWrimo Diaries Series (Day 1, Part 1)
BEASTLY (NaPoWrimo Diaries, Day 1, Part 2)
CATALYST (NaPoWrimo Diaries, Day 2)
Destiny (NaPoWrimo Diaries, Day 3)
ERASURE (NaPoWrimo Diaries, Day 4)
FALLEN (NaPoWrimo Diaries, Day 5)
GRANDILOQUENT (NaPoWrimo Diaries Day 6)
Yeah, a bit of a difference.
LOOKING AHEAD TO JUNE
So what’s next?
June is shaping up to be a huge turning point — both for my blog and my projects. Here’s what I’ve got in the works:
- Launch prep for my first official serialized mystery novel, The D.C. Double Dilemma.
More on that very soon — and why it’s tied to me putting Car Gone Rogue on the backburner. - Reading goal: Clear as much of my “Currently Reading” list as possible. I want to finish strong before the second half of the year begins.
- Website update: I’m officially announcing the launch of my second website, Mystery and Media Maestro, coming June 10!
I’m also starting my first one-month summer classes at SMU on June 2 — so while I’ll be balancing classwork with creative projects, I’ve built a schedule that still allows me to post consistently and share my work with you all.
CONCLUSION
May was a month of quiet wins and big breakthroughs — even if not every goal was checked off, I’m proud of the progress I made and excited for what’s coming next.
June is going to be a month of transitions: into a new blog rhythm, a new serialized novel release, and a whole new chapter of creative direction — literally and figuratively.
In more ways than one, this is going to be the start of a completely different summer!
Thanks so much for being here, whether this is your first post or you’ve been following for a while. I can’t wait to share more with you as everything starts to roll out.
Here’s to a strong June — and the halfway mark of 2025. Let’s make it count.
Also, stay tuned for this post on Friday that will kick off a cross-website biweekly series I’m calling…
